Selected Works
Here are some projects I’ve worked on throughout my undergraduate program that reflect my growth, skills, and experience. Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. I’d be happy to hear your feedback!
NewAldaya LifeScapes Intervention
- During my sophomore year of undergraduate study, I developed and implemented a 1:1, 11-session APIED intervention at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The intervention centered on culturally responsive creative writing and was conducted with the only Black resident in the unit. The writing activities provided an opportunity for the resident to express personal experiences and feelings related to discrimination through creative expression.
Creative Art For Everyone
- During the fall semester of my sophomore year, I implemented a five-session arts and crafts intervention for adults with disabilities at the Hearst Center for the Arts in Cedar Falls, Iowa. In addition to facilitating the intervention, I developed a digital promotional zine highlighting the project. The zine was subsequently published in the University of Northern Iowa’s Undergraduate ScholarWorks Archive, showcasing my work in community engagement, creative programming, and scholarly dissemination.
A Just and True Return
During the summer of my junior year, I collaborated with Dr. Cory James Young in the University of Iowa’s Department of History to transcribe historical court documents and develop a digital database documenting Pennsylvania’s surviving county slave registries. This project strengthened my skills in historical research, archival documentation, and digital data organization while contributing to the preservation and accessibility of important historical records.
